TestingCatalog reported on Oct. 18 that a “Personal Finance” feature is in the works for the Claude app, and it would run through Plaid. According to FourWeekMBA’s account of those posts, Claude personal finance now looks close to launch.
TestingCatalog is a site that tracks unreleased AI app features. Anthropic itself hasn’t said a word.

What the Claude finance feature leak shows
The leaked screens say Claude would read balances and transactions so it can work with your real numbers. They also describe access as read-only, which means Claude couldn’t move money.
TestingCatalog says developers called the tool “Claude Money” during testing and renamed it in the latest update. It adds that Claude will be able to analyze bank data and build dashboards on top of it.
The site also points to a new onboarding screen and added Plaid integration logic. Those are the kind of finishing touches that usually show up shortly before a launch. TestingCatalog says there is “a high chance” of an announcement relatively soon.
This isn’t the first sighting. In September, BleepingComputer reported that a “Money” section had turned up in the Claude iOS app. It appeared next to Chats, Code, Artifacts, Dispatch and Cowork, with a “Get started” button for linking an account. It didn’t appear to be rolling out to most users.
Your data and the privacy question
Picture asking an AI where your paycheck went last month, and getting an answer based on your actual statements instead of a guess. That’s the pitch. It’s also exactly why people should slow down and think before they click “connect.”
Bank linking relies on a third-party aggregator, which adds another point of exposure for your data. Read-only access is reassuring, but it leaves the bigger questions open: what Anthropic stores, for how long, and who can see it.
Anthropic already faces scrutiny over how criminals misuse its model, as hackers who used an AI agent and Claude against South Korean banks showed. Any bank-linking launch will land in that climate.
What nobody knows about the Anthropic finance tool
Here’s the thing: this is a leak, not a launch. FourWeekMBA says it checked Anthropic’s newsroom and Claude’s help center on Oct. 19 and found nothing. The release date, pricing, supported banks and US-only status all remain unconfirmed, and Lapaas Voice notes that Anthropic has said nothing on any of it.
Unreleased builds also don’t always ship. TestingCatalog itself said in its earlier report that the September interface “may instead reflect broader internal testing.” So treat this as a strong hint rather than a promise.
The race with ChatGPT
If it does launch, Anthropic would be playing catch-up. OpenAI’s ChatGPT already has a “Finances” feature that lets eligible US users link bank accounts, credit cards and brokerages through Plaid. gHacks reports it covers more than 12,000 US financial institutions, and OpenAI says it doesn’t train its models on this data.
Claude isn’t starting from zero, either. It already supports third-party personal-finance connectors such as Era Context and PocketSmith. Bank linking would simply bring that work in-house.
What Claude personal finance means for you
The smart move is to wait for the fine print. When Anthropic does speak, the privacy terms will matter more than the dashboards. Investors are already jittery about AI spending, as the brutal earnings week for Meta, Tesla and SpaceX showed, and a safety stumble on money data wouldn’t help. Anthropic has also drafted its own AI safety bill, so expect scrutiny of how it handles your accounts.
The next signal to watch is Anthropic’s newsroom and the Claude help center. If the onboarding screens reach real users before the company says a word, the silence will be doing the talking.
