Brabus will build exactly 77 units of the Brabus Shadow Carve eFoil, a limited-edition electric hydrofoil priced at $20,490. The German tuner famous for six-figure G-Wagens teamed up with Swedish brand Awake to make it. What’s a Brabus fan to do when the G-Wagen is already covered? Get wet, apparently.
So why should Brabus buyers care? Because this is the clearest sign yet that the brand wants your whole lifestyle, not just your driveway. Brabus is pushing deeper into marine, and the board is the cheapest way into that world. If you already own the badge on four wheels, you can now wear it on the water for the price of a nice used car.
What the Brabus Shadow Carve eFoil actually is
First, a quick correction to the viral posts calling it an “electric surfboard.” It is technically an eFoil: a board that rides on a hydrofoil wing under the surface, so you glide above the water instead of plowing through it. According to Robb Report, Awake based it on the Vinga Carve platform.
The specs read like they were lifted from a car show placard. An 8.2 kW electric drivetrain pushes the board to a top speed of up to 28 mph (45 km/h). The board comes fitted with Brabus-branded Cloud Wings, and Awake rates the Flex Battery XR for up to 120 minutes of ride time. The German outlet Tuningblog reports the same figures.
Black carbon fiber, red accents, and a numbered badge
It looks exactly like what you’d expect from Brabus: moody, shiny and not remotely shy. The board is black carbon fiber with red accents on the hull and deckpad, a triangle pattern on the deck, and 2,000-lumen red LED lighting for after-dark rides. Every unit wears a “One of 77” emblem.
The package also includes a Brabus and Awake board bag, charging equipment and accessories. So the price covers more than the board alone, and this Brabus eFoil ships ready to ride.
Is the Brabus x Awake board worth $20,490?
Here’s the thing. That is serious money for a toy, and it is a lot more than a weekend hobby budget. But Brabus has never sold anything on practicality. The pitch is exclusivity: 77 numbered boards, a badge that matches the one on a six-figure Mercedes, and a companion for the yachts the company is working to sell. Robb Report notes Brabus is expanding its marine business.
Luxury limited runs are everywhere right now. Even a viral concept car can turn out to be a different story than the internet claims, so check the facts before you buy the hype.
This is also the second collaboration between the two companies. Brabus’s own news page dates the first one, the Shadow Jetboard, to May 2024, and it was also limited to 77 units. Seventy-seven again? Either it’s a lucky number or a very convenient marketing trick.
Where to see it, and where to buy
The Brabus Shadow Carve eFoil makes its official debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this weekend. Robb Report says you can buy it now through the Brabus website. We couldn’t retrieve a Brabus or Awake press release or product page, though. Buyers moving this fast on pricey gear should also read how Carvana’s record quarter came with a catch.
Awake, a Stockholm company founded in 2017, has sold the Vinga Carve since 2022. Brabus supplies the badge and the attitude. For buyers who want the Brabus electric hydrofoil, the badge is the point.
