Nine million tickets, five continents, and one very large number at the end. The Weeknd just set the tour record for a male artist, the biggest any man has ever run, as his “After Hours Til Dawn” stadium trek wrapped in Kuala Lumpur with a final gross of more than $1.3 billion, according to Variety, citing figures confirmed by promoter Live Nation. That makes The Weeknd tour record official.
One housekeeping note first. The male-artist record itself is not new. Live Nation announced it back around the $1 billion mark in late 2025. What landed this week is the final tally and the end of the road.
The Weeknd tour record by the numbers
The scale is hard to picture, so here it is anyway. The run covered 176 shows in 67 cities across 30 countries and five continents, with more than 9 million tickets sold since it began in July 2022, according to the tour’s press release. In 2026 alone, he moved more than 3 million tickets.
The finale followed 16 other sold-out stadium nights across Asia this fall, the first time the tour played the region. Four of those were at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium, where nearly 200,000 tickets sold, Fame Magazine reports.
Who the Weeknd highest-grossing tour passed, and who is still ahead
The previous male-artist record belonged to Elton John’s farewell tour, at more than $939 million. The Weeknd cleared it by roughly $360 million.
That is not a photo finish. That is a lap.
He is not alone at the top, though. Pollstar says only two other acts are in the billion-dollar tour club, Taylor Swift and Coldplay. Swift’s Eras Tour sits above $2 billion and Coldplay’s tour tops $1.5 billion, which puts The Weeknd third overall. Even so, he is the only man in the conversation.
One caution on the numbers. Variety notes there is no official touring chart comparable to the ones that rank recorded music. The promoter confirms these rankings, and no independent audit backs them. And if you like a good comeback story, the channel that once made stars like him is itself signing off this week.
Here’s the thing: what a $1.3 billion tour means for your wallet
So why should you care? Because it shows what fans are paying to see one show. Spread $1.3 billion across roughly 9 million tickets and the average comes out near $144 per ticket. That is our own back-of-the-envelope estimate, not a reported figure.
The real number runs higher, because “more than” is a floor. Still, it is a handy yardstick the next time you price out a stadium night for your family, and a reminder that the biggest tour by a male artist did not come cheap for fans.
The dinner-table facts behind the After Hours Til Dawn record
Here is the one to repeat over dinner. He became the first artist to sell out six nights at Paris’s Stade de France on a single tour, and he drew more than 500,000 fans across France this summer. At home, he played seven shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, a record for a male artist there, and six nights at Toronto’s Rogers Centre.
There was a charitable side too. As of late 2025, the tour had donated $8.5 million to the XO Humanitarian Fund and Global Citizen, and the 2026 leg earmarked proceeds for the World Food Programme, uDiscover Music reports.
What happens next after the tour record
The Weeknd has announced nothing yet, and we are not going to guess. The tour is over, and he has confirmed no next tour or project. The closest thing to a sequel is his new song “Hong Kong,” which he premiered at the first Kai Tak show on October 24 and released a week later.
Meanwhile, if you want a break from stadium math, another farewell dominating the week is playing out in Portugal.
The next thing to watch is whether Billboard’s final Boxscore tally lines up with the promoter’s math. After 176 shows, that is the number that will settle the argument.
